Our Commitment to Reducing our Carbon Footprint

Earth is our home and the environment in which we live is very important to us. By challenging ourselves to reduce the size of our waste contribution, we are maximizing the environment’s sustainability and providing a better Earth for future generations.

The packaging process in today’s world is an area that continues to be highly wasteful. With that in mind, this got us thinking about the efforts we have made and what else we could do to reduce our ecological footprint.

Biodegradable Bags
Did you know regular plastic bags can take up to 1,000 years to decompose? Our new biodegradable poly-bag will only take 6 months to 1 year to degrade. Switching to biodegradable bags has been our new initiative that we began implementing in 2019. Currently 75% of our poly bags have been switched to biodegradable material. Throughout this year we will continue to switch out all remaining styles over to biodegradable material; reaching 100% by the end of 2020.

100% Recycled Boxes 
For years we have been working with vendor who manufactures corrugated boxes that are 100% compromised of post-consumer waste. Post-consumer waste has a zero percent contribution to landfill. Further, 100% of their corrugated scrap is recycled; this scrap is sold to pulp paper mills and in turn is recycled into corrugated sheets which are used to make their boxes.

Overcoming the Challenge
Due to the cost and time it takes to make a switch to a more green packaging process, there are still companies today using a high volume of plastic bags and boxes that aren’t made from recycled goods. Moving towards a more eco-friendly route is a sound investment that doesn’t have to be financially demanding; and while making changes does happen overnight, the future of our Earth depends on it.
